ADSO are continuing to monitor the airwaves to identify opportunities where we can represent your views and raise the profile of the Association.
These opportunities can be as diverse as helping Government departments prepare guidance through to responding to consultations on election cycles.
Currently on the horizon are guidance to be issued by the Department of Health on health scrutiny following the introduction of the Health and Social Care Act, consultations on pensions for councillors and lobbying. Also the Communities and Local Government Select Committee will soon have Nick Boles MP, the Planning Minister, before them to talk about the new planning arrangements. Members of that committee want to know what questions they should be asking the Minister so we will be looking for any of our members who are planning experts who may be able to identify issues under the new arrangements that impact upon the democratic arena.
