Appointment of Officers of the Association

Appointment of Officers of the Association

Paragraph 7 of the Articles of Association requires the Officers of the Association to be elected each year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in November. For clarification, the Officers are the Chair and Vice Chair, the Board Secretary, the Director of Finance, the Director of Communications and the Director of Development. The Articles require that nominations for these positions must be submitted to the Company Secretary not less than six weeks prior to the AGM.

The Board is however proposing a variation to this process in relation to one of the Directors posts. The current Director of Development is not seeking re-election for 2018/19 but in order to maintain continuity of the recently reviewed qualifications she has agreed to retain responsibility for them on a consultancy basis. This means that the Director of Development post will become the Director of Training. Given the expertise required for this role, and the need to review and update ADSO’s  training offer, the Board will be recommending to the AGM the appointment of a specialist development professional for an initial period of 12 months rather than through an election process.

Further information on what the various roles entail can be found here

Members wishing to put themselves forward as Chair or Vice Chair must be nominated by a proposer, seconder and eight other Association Members (10 in total). Candidates for the remaining Officer positions open for nominations this year (Director of Finance, Director of Communications and Company Secretary) shall only require a proposer and seconder.

Along with the completed nomination form, candidates for these positions must supply written endorsement of their candidacy from their employer; a 200 word biography detailing their qualifications, work experience and what they expect to bring to the role; and a recent photo for the website.
