First weekly update from Peter Savage, Company Secretary

Firstly I would like to congratulate Peter Sass on being such an excellent Company Secretary.  He will be a very hard act to follow – but I will do my best. I enjoyed meeting a few new people at last year’s conference and look forward to meeting more of you in Bristol later this year.  In the meantime I have attended my first Board meeting – the agenda, reports and minutes will be added to the ADSO website shortly.

Membership management is a challenging task at the moment and I am trying to make sure members get access to services as soon as possible.  If you are unable to gain access, or have other problems, do let me know at peter.savage@adso.co.uk. If you have suggestions about improving the website or related issues I’d be interested to hear them, although I am not promising radical change!

ADSO has responded quickly to the recent launch of the report from the Committee on Standards in Public Life and in conjunction with Paul Hoey, has produced the

on the key issues. You will see that some of the recommendations (if accepted by the Government) will require changes to primary legislation. Others however are good practice and can be addressed now within your authorities. ADSO has two Standards and Ethics courses planned for March which will include the CSPL report. The first is on 22 March at Leicester City Council. The second is on 26th at the London Borough of Brent. This is an ideal opportunity to discuss the proposed recommendations, assess their impact and look at how you can implement the suggested good practice within your authorities. Bookings for both are now open.
