Good luck with elections this week!

I hope you had a good bank holiday weekend.

There are elections taking part in most of the country this week, so best of luck to those working or supporting the elections. I know many will have to do this again on the 8th June, not ideal i know, but have a read of my recent blog for the Lawyers in Local Government.

I am pleased that members have been interacting more in the “members forum” this is a valuable tool for our members and glad it is being well utilised. I often read through your posts and last week i was fascinated by the post from Andrew our colleague from the Isles of Scilly,  Andrew sets out some of the problems faced by the size , but also that it can be turned into positives very quickly with a bit of outside-of-the-box thinking and determination, this is a great insight so my thanks to Andrew for sharing and being the geek i am am for this sort of thing i wanted to share it in my newsletter. So if you get a chance have a look at Andrew’s post it is worth a read. Please note you will need to log in to read Andrew’s post

I also wanted to mention that we have two training courses coming up.The subject is “The adaptable and effective scrutiny officer” and it is being held as follows:

22 May – London (LB Hackney)

31 May – Midlands (Stoke City)

The London event has attracted a lot of interest but there are still a few places left if you act quickly. The Stoke course however needs a few more delegates to make it viable. If we don’t get sufficient numbers, we will have to consider cancelling it. That would be a real shame so if you are interested, please book your place as quickly as possible.
