Update from the Chair

We are approaching spring and yet many of you will probably be coping with snow yet again. Only in Britain…..! I hope things are not too bad.

We have the ADSO Board meeting this Friday so I will report back the week after.

I’ve just got back from Glasgow where Sue Keogh and I attended the Society of Local Authority Lawyers & Administrators’ Conference, otherwise known as SOLAR. Those of you on Twitter will have seen Sue and I 150 feet up the Titan Crane in Clydebank. I am terrified of heights and very nearly backed out (or was it ‘blacked’ out?) but thankfully Sue persuaded me to go and it was well worth the trip – even though it was freezing cold. It is an amazing piece of engineering and rightly something the locals are very proud of. Sue had to work for her supper during the 2 day conference and ran a couple of workshops. She did brilliantly and certainly helped to raise the profile and status of ADSO amongst an audience of mainly lawyers.

Whilst we were away, we took the opportunity to begin planning the ADSO awards 2018. We will be inviting submissions for the Team and DSO of the Year as well as Learner of the Year shortly. There is a lot of really good work going on out there so please don’t be modest. Tell us how good you all are by submitting your applications. Further details will be available in the next few weeks.

Have a good week and keep warm!
