Weekly message from Joanna Boaler, Director of Communications

The newsletter this week is focusing on the #ADSOConf2022 and #ADSOAwards2022.  Although we are a few weeks away from the 1st September deadline for accommodation to be held and for the early bird offer, if you have holiday plans in the next few weeks and wish to attend the conference, we encourage you to make your booking soon. The date of the conference is 17 and 18 November at the Double Tree by Hilton Forest Pines, Broughton, Lincolnshire. For more information and to book your place visit ADSO Conference and Awards Ceremony 2022 – ADSO .

ADSO Awards 2022 – deadline 29 July
There is now just over a week to get your submissions in for the #ADSOAwards2022 in. To date, we have received just one nomination for each category. Due to a tight timescale, we are not able to extend the deadline of 29 July.

We know that there is so much good work happening across the country and we would really like to celebrate those successes at the Conference. But without sufficient numbers, the awards will not take place. The categories are: Learner of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Distinguished Service Award and Team of the Year. For further information and to get your nomination in before 29 July, visit ADSO Awards 2022 – ADSO

This will be the latest opportunity offered by ADSO for those taking their first steps into the world of Democratic Services. This is a quick introduction designed to give you some essentials and to give you the chance to ask questions and meet other new starters.  It will be delivered as a single 3-hour workshop via Zoom.

This course is aimed at newly appointed Democratic Services Officers who wish to develop their understanding of their role.   It is for those who have never worked in this area before and who want a quick introduction to orient themselves.

I hope that you are either enjoying the heat or managing to keep cool and for those of you who are on leave before our next newsletter, I wish you a good break.
