Hello Everyone
Well if the rain and floods are not enough to deal with, we now have the delights of the Corona Virus to contend with. I suspect many of you are already looking at contingency plans should things get steadily worse. I hope you all get through your budget council meetings this month and the preparations for the May elections are not affected by the above issues.
I was really looking forward to seeing the new James Bond film next month but now will have to wait till November when its released. What’s the world coming to.
Training Programme 2020
On a more positive note our new trainer provider, East Midlands Council, is urgently booking venues and trainers for this year’s programme.
The outline training programme for 2020 is:
– Meetings Procedures (April 2020)
– Just a Minute (May 2020)
– The Effective Scrutiny Function (July 2020)**
– Company Secretary (September 2020)
– Steps to Management (October 2020)
– Council and its Governance arrangements (November 2020)**
** linked to the qualifications
Each of these courses will be run in London and the Midlands/North of England. Regional courses can also be run (on these or other courses) if numbers can be guaranteed.
We will let you know dates for the courses and booking arrangements once the above logistics are finalised.
ADSO Forum

ADSO Conference
Preparations are well underway for this years conference on 26th and 27th November in Bristol. I will be taking a report to Board at the end of this month on the programme and arrangements. I would appreciate suggestions for topics for facilitated discussions at the start of the conference and for plenary speakers. Let me know your thoughts so I can contact the people concerned and get them booked.
I have also got a venue finder looking at possible sites in the Midlands/North of England for our conference in 2021. Will keep you posted on that.
