Weekly message from John Lynch, Director of Finance

I had an interesting two days up in Glasgow attending the Society of Local Authority Lawyers and Administrators in Scotland Annual Conference. A good range of speakers and workshops over the two days. I particularly enjoyed the talks on the Commercialisation of Local Govt and an update on Employment Law in Scotland. The SOLAR President will be attending our Conference in Bristol in November.

I see the £95k Public Service Severance Cap seems to be back on the agenda. https://www.lgcplus.com/investment/exclusive-government-planning-revival-of-95000-exit-cap/7028042.article?blocktitle=Most-popular&contentID=-1  This will affect those with long local government service who might be under threat of redundancy or are thinking of taking voluntary redundancy. I would advise you to check with your HR and Pensions team now how this would relate to your own situation. Don’t forget to make use of the free financial advice offered by St James Place to all ADSO Members. https://www.adso.co.uk/financial-advice-members/
