Weekly update from the Chair

I hope those of you who were involved in the elections have recovered and that member induction is going well. I always enjoyed the induction process as it is great opportunity for democratic services to make a positive impression with new members and forge good relationships for years to come.

We’ve completed the first round of Board Directors contributing to Democracy Direct and I hope you found it helpful. Happy to receive comments as to how you think we can improve things further.

The Board is having an away day on 8 June when the key item of business will be succession planning. It’s something that’s not unique to ADSO but in terms of future growth and development, I think it’s our greatest risk. So we will be looking to develop strategies to encourage more members to get involved and hopefully want to be the Directors and Regional Representatives of the future. It’s also important that the Board is as representative of the membership as possible. If you have any ideas to feed into the discussion on 8th June, please drop me an e mail (john.austin@adso.co.uk). I’d be delighted to hear from you.
