Working with others!

The ADSO Board place a lot of emphasis on partnership working with like minded organisations and we continue to look for opportunities to share the work of ADSO , represent and portray the views of our members.  I mentioned previously that we sponsored the recent Notwestminster conference for the second successive year. You may not be familiar with this event, but they are arranged primarily by colleagues from Kirklees Council and provide an opportunity for those working in the sector, citizens plus interested organisations and individuals to consider improvements to local democracy. see article below for more details.

ADSO has also been working with CIPFA in recent weeks and supported one of the CIPFA training courses, the CIPFA Better Governance Forum. It was run over 3 days in Birmingham, London and York and Dave Burn our Vice-Chair ran a module on Scrutiny’s involvement in the Annual Governance process.

In last weeks newsletter i also mentioned that i will be facilitating a workshop at the Society of Local Authority Lawyers & Administrators IN Scotland’s annual conference. I am looking for examples i can use around innovative ideas for income generation, ways in which you have taken on a wider governance role within your authority or in (say) partner or outside organisations. If you want to share any examples please do email me at john.austin@adso.co.uk, any submissions can be anonymised, please get in touch.
