‘The City of endless variety’
As the world’s leading financial centre, the City of London stands as a beacon of international leadership today and for future generations. There is no better time to join us at City of London Corporation. As Assistant Town Clerk you will be instrumental in delivering the City Corporation’s ‘fantastic five years’ programme of activity. Our new Corporate Plan and People Strategy, shaped by our vibrant Members, staff, business leaders, volunteers, and residents set the tone for an extraordinary journey ahead, making the City of London Corporation one of the most exciting and rewarding places to work in the UK.
As part our future plans, we are seeking a dynamic Assistant Town Clerk to help the organisation deliver on its strategic ambitions. In this pivotal role, you will manage the City of London Corporation’s corporate governance and political decision-making processes, acting as the lead advisor to elected Members on any associated processes and ensuring that all legal and procedural responsibilities are maintained in the City Corporation’s public and private functions. This role will join us at a crucial time when we are seeking to drive efficiency and agility through our existing governance and committee processes.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership and credibility, providing world-class political and policy advice to the City of London Corporation’s Leaders and Members. The focus will be on achieving outcomes through collaborative efforts, demonstrating political acumen and organisational nous, and in doing so ensuring the organisation sets the standard for others.
As a forward-thinking leader, you will oversee the development and management of policies, processes and procedures related to corporate governance. Each day will present exciting and diverse opportunities; your ability to anticipate and understand the broader implications of decisions will be crucial in driving the City Corporation’s success and positively impacting both internal and external stakeholders.
The City of London Corporation relies on having a workforce that reflects society, so we encourage applications from candidates from all backgrounds, and especially those from underrepresented groups. Our employees are expected to spend at least 60% of their time in their work setting or office and while this is a full-time role, we welcome applications for flexible working patterns and job shares.
