We are currently recruiting to this senior role in the Council’s governance structure.

The Council is due to transform how it works, by changing to the Executive form of governance in May 2022, and you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing the new arrangements. The focus will be on supporting the Executive function, but you should be equally comfortable dealing with scrutiny bodies, and providing procedural advice.

For the right candidate, there is the opportunity to act as the Council’s Deputy Monitoring Officer (for which an honorarium is payable), and as company secretary for one of the Council’s wholly owned companies. The role includes responsibility for the elections service, the day to day delivery of which falls to the Council’s Electoral Services Manager.

You will be a democratic services manager, or experienced governance professional ready for career progression. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, with excellent communication and inter-personal skills; a team leader and player. Efficient home-working arrangements are well established.
