We are looking to fill a varied and interesting role working as part of a team which is integral to the successful running of the decision making of Cambridge City Council. Whether you are looking for your first role in this area or want to build on your current experience we are looking for someone who has the skills and further potential to deliver high quality work.
Working as part of a small, friendly unit in a challenging and stimulating environment, you will be organised, accurate and able to work under pressure to tight deadlines. With the ability to think logically and plan ahead you will have responsibility for managing various meetings allocated to you which will include:
• Drafting and publishing the agenda
• Attending the meeting
• Providing support to the Chair and senior officers
• Post meeting writing up
• Publishing action sheets/ minutes
In addition to being a reference point of contact for senior officers and councillors on democratic process and procedures you will have an awareness of the sensitivities of working within a political environment and will be able to build good working relationships with a variety of people.
We will look to you to event manage meetings that take place at the Guildhall and at other places across the city as well as utilise audio/ visual livestream equipment where applicable.
Of course, we will support your development in gaining a solid knowledge of the constitutional and legislative framework for local authority decision making and, given that we have new political and managerial leadership at the Council, it is most definitely an interesting time to join us.
