(2) COMMITTEE OFFICER (CAREER GRADE)
As we plan for the future, we are looking for two enthusiastic and dedicated officers to join our relatively small but high-profile Committee Services Team. These are joint roles, principally serving Cotswold and West Oxfordshire District Councils, both of whom currently operate a Strong Leader and Cabinet executive structure.
For the more senior role, we are looking for someone who can ‘hit the ground running’ and make an immediate impact, bringing with them an understanding of, and experience of working within, similar governance arrangements, ideally including involvement with scrutiny.
You will need to be politically aware, and be able to work on your own initiative. Also required are outstanding all-round communication skills, tact and diplomacy, an attention to detail, and an ability to think logically and plan ahead. Reliability and calmness under pressure are also pre-requisites, given that the role often involves working to tight deadlines.
The career grade role offers a fantastic opportunity either for someone wanting a great start to a career in local government and governance, or for an officer looking for a new challenge having already gained sound administrative skills.
You will be enthusiastic, hard-working and willing to learn – in return we offer training and support, and an opportunity to progress and develop. Your current knowledge, skills and experience will determine your starting salary, and progression plan.
For an informal discussion about either role, please contact Nigel Adams, Head of Democratic Services at Cotswold District Council, on 01285 623202.
Benefits include up to 29 days leave in addition to public holidays, flexible working hours, free parking at place of work, contributory pension scheme and relocation package. The posts are suitable for job share.
Closing dates: 08 May 2017 at 5pm
