We are looking to recruit a Governance and Scrutiny Officer following a review of the council’s governance arrangements. This post will provide the opportunity to further your career, supporting and facilitating the work of the council’s scrutiny function. The role encompasses working across the two scrutiny committees and their appointed working groups and developing and managing relationships with councillors, senior officers, and external organisations/bodies.

The post holder will provide advice and information and draw upon the Council’s constitution as well as researching issues to help deliver effective scrutiny to help make a real difference. The role will also provide support in managing the council’s information governance framework and will provide support in responding to FOI requests.

You will need to have experience of working in local government or a comparable public sector environment and have a minimum of 12 months experience working in a Governance and Scrutiny field. You will also have excellent communication skills, with the ability to interpret and explain complex information to different audiences, whilst being mindful of working within a political environment.
