Applications are invited for the role of Principal Constitutional Officer. This is a full time permanent contract.

1.1. The Constitutional team is an influential team located at the centre of the authority, charged with supporting the decision-making processes. Working closely with the Monitoring Officer and Head of Constitutional Services, you will play an important role in maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance

1.2. To provide high quality advice and support to the council’s decision making bodies, including council assembly, cabinet and other committees, and to be adept at finding solutions and providing complex advice to councillors, officers and members of the public.

1.3. To lead and manage a team of two/three constitutional officers and to plan and develop long term improvements and efficiencies in the decision making environment. This may include leading on management projects.

1.4. To work closely with councillors and senior officers to develop and maintain an excellent democratic function in Southwark, maximising public accountability and engagement.
