The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames is continually reviewing its ways of working in order to provide the best services possible for residents and is looking to recruit two new members to join the Democratic Services Team.
We are looking for a Governance and Scrutiny Officer to provide professional and non-political support for council committee meetings and our scrutiny function and a Democratic Services Officer to provide professional and non-political support for council committee meetings and some of our democratic projects including Webcasting and enhanced use of Committee Management Software.
Both roles will include the opportunity to work at the heart of local-decision making and we are looking for people with the right skills, abilities and talent to support our Councillors in their work. You will need to demonstrate for both positions political sensitivity, attention to detail, effective prioritisation skills and an ability to work well in a team. For the Governance and Scrutiny Officer role you will also be required to demonstrate skills in research to enable you to provide support to Overview and Scrutiny Committees and Scrutiny Task Groups.
In both positions you will work closely with councillors and senior managers, as well as providing advice and information to members of the public. You will need to have strong verbal and written communication skills, have the ability to explain complex guidance and be confident in providing advice to Councillors and Officers in a range of meeting situations.
