ADSO NW Branch – agenda 10 Feb

extension: doc

Summary of meeting:

As you know the ADSO branch meeting was held on 10 February at Lancashire County Council Offices. Helen Gee attended the meeting and chaired it – and now the role has passed to me. The next meeting will be on 22 September at Trafford Town Hall.  I’ll send out more information around the time.

The main part of the meeting was a presentation from Sue Ford of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. This is attached.  The GM Mayoral elections are on the 4th May so it will be interesting to see how things are progressing at the September meeting.

The meeting also discussed how the Regional Branch should operate in future and how best we can communicate between ourselves.  It was agreed that there is still a place for face to face meetings and I’ll arrange two or three a year.  However, are there ways to improve on-going communication?  Or use the website better?  Please let me have any ideas.

John Austin updated the meeting on changes to the ADSO qualifications and pilots that will be running from March to help students complete the certificate in a more timely and effective manner.   The courses will be more focused and relevant.

ADSO courses will be held in London and the midlands as this is where there is most demand and both are easier for travel purposes.  They are advertised on the website so please keep an eye out for them.   John also highlighted that the website has had a revamp. Please check it out if you haven’t done so already.

Stuart Benson from attended the meeting and gave us an update on new developments for those of us with the system.

I’ll be attending the ADSO Board on 7 April and will let you know of any developments after that.  In the meantime, please do let me know of any improvements or issues that you’d like me to pick up.
