Salary £34,106 to £38,052 per annum (Grade 8)

A promotion and retirement of the previous post holders have created two opportunities to work in the District Council Democratic Services department.

The team is looking to develop and improve to support the work of the whole council – giving a window to the work of the Council, keeping clear records of decisions and ensuring that those decisions are made in an informed way within the demands of a fast moving authority.

For both posts, we are looking for articulate people with the confidence to advise chairmen of public meetings. The postholders will have relevant skills to enable them to quickly develop an understanding of our Constitution and procedures and apply them across the complex variety of areas in which the Local Authority operates. They are likely to have experience working for another public body in a governance environment and it is highly desirable that you will be able to show proficiency in ICT especially Word and Powerpoint. Experience of updating a forward plan would also be desirable.

You will be responsible for ensuring accurate records are kept in a very fast moving and often pressured work environment, dealing with a wide range of tasks including management of meetings, organising events, supporting the issuing of formal notices across a range of services.

We are looking for someone who is able to work efficiently balancing many priorities, and who has excellent organisational, interpersonal and IT skills including the ability to use specialist governance software applications. Experience of using system would be a significant advantage.

The Manager postholder will need to be able to demonstrate skills in supervising small teams including skills in controlling a budget but will need to be a strong influencer, with the personality and ability to give advice to politicians and senior managers.
