East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work, delivering essential local services and making a real difference to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.

We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk Council’s Democratic Services Team as a Democratic Services Officer.

The role

Your role will be to ensure that requirements for political decision-making processes are met at East Suffolk Council, in line with the Council’s Constitution and also support its 55 elected Councillors. You will have responsibility for assigned regular meetings, including preparing the associated agendas, reports, and minutes, as well as researching and providing advice on the interpretation and application of the Council’s Constitution.

What you will need

We webcast our Council and committee meetings, so excellent IT skills are essential. You will also need experience in minuting meetings, preferably in a local government authority environment, excellent communications skills (both written and verbal) and excellent attention to detail. Good organisation skills, mobility within the district and the ability to work evenings as required will be essential.

If you think you have what it takes to be successful in this role, even if you don’t meet all of the essential requirements, please apply. We would appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.
