 SENIOR DEMOCRATIC SERVICES OFFICER

Grade 5 £27,064 – £30,912 p.a. (with the potential to progress to £33,783p.a.)

Full Time 37 Hours per week

 Following an internal promotion, the Democratic Services Section is looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual at the heart of the Council’s decision making process.

 The post will ensure the efficient arrangements for the support and servicing of Council Committees and Panels, in accordance with the Council’s Constitution and statutory legislation, and provide an effective service in supporting all Members of the Council in their roles.  

 You will be required to provide advice and guidance to all Members of the Council, officers, and members of the public on the Council’s Procedural Rules and decision-making processes. 

 The post holder will be expected to administer and attend a variety of daytime and evening committee meetings producing Agenda, Minutes and reports, (an evening committee attendance allowance may be claimed).

 You should have a thorough knowledge of the law relating to Council committee meetings and have experience of supporting committees within a political environment. You should also have a sound knowledge of local government, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be committed to team working, and have a flexible approach to work.

 The post holder will also need to demonstrate a good understanding of the importance of political sensitivity.
