Weekly message from Colin Copus, Non-Executive Director

ADSO would like to send our very best wishes to all those involved in the running, organising, management and oversight of the local elections on 2nd May. As the process gears up and the elections get closer you are at the forefront of ensuing the integrity and smooth running of the local democratic processes. You’ll be dealing with fraught and tense candidates, a massive amount of work and high expectations from all concerned. The very best of luck – our local democracy depends on your efforts.

While we are preparing for the local elections it might be useful to have sight of the recent report of the Levelling-up, Housing and Communities Committee on Electoral Registration, published on 21st March.  The government’s response is due by 21st May 2024.

Below are some more features which might whet your appetite or provide something to discuss in the pub over a beer!

Sue Crossland, Learning and Development Officer
ADSO is sad to announce that, after over 25 years supporting ADSO, Sue Crossland will be leaving South West Councils on 18 April.  Sue has been a tremendous support to the ADSO Board and to the many learners and assessors who have crossed her path over the years. We are sure you will all join us in thanking Sue and wishing her well as she starts her retirement.

Finally, we hope you all had a very enjoyable Easter and made the most of this time to relax, reflect and recharge and enjoy the company of family and friends.
