Weekly message from Matthew Hall, Director of Business Strategy and Development

With local elections fast approaching, I’m sure this is a busy time for many readers. As a resident of a London borough, I will vote on no less than three different positions. My doorbell is getting regular exercise, and the volume of leaflets dropping through my letterbox, with varying combinations of optimism and anger printed upon them, has me wondering about the sustainability of the campaigning process.

As it’s something of a cliche, I generally try to avoid speculating on the weather during my introduction, although I might be persuaded to vote for anyone that could consistently deliver a warmer April.

Continuing the theme of important and influential appointments, last week’s beginning of the search for ADSO’s first Chief Executive was the culmination of many month’s work, and my colleague Diane has done an outstanding job of launching and driving interest in the position. Please do continue to share and promote the role – as members, your influence and network is essential to building a great pool of applicants with the skills and knowledge to drive us forward.

I was delighted to join an ADSO Conference Working Group recently. We have a really excellent group working on the 2024 event, ensuring we’re delivering more of what members want, and a few new and different elements as well. We’ll be launching in just a few weeks.
