Weekly message from the Chair, John Austin

A few reminders this week before you all are (hopefully) off on your well earned summer break.

Firstly, training. We are running the following courses after the holidays:

Law & Practice
London – 13 September
Wigan – 19 September

Working in a Political Environment
London – 5 November

Company Secretarial Practice
This has been long awaited and I’m delighted to say that Mark Towers, Director of Governance & Partnerships at Blackpool Council, has agreed to run a course for ADSO in Tower Hamlets London on 6th September. Some of you may remember Mark from his days on the ADSO Board. He is a very experienced practitioner and acts as company secretary to a number of different bodies. I expect this course to be fully booked very quickly. Details will be advertised on the website shortly.

Advanced Committee Administration training course
South East Employers are running an Advanced Committee Administration training course. This is a two-day programme which is aimed at experienced practitioners and managers.

This two-day programme has everything you need to help you develop in the role of Committee Administrator. This is an excellent opportunity to share good practice and learn from experienced practitioners. Details can be found on the SEE website

ADSO Conference
Bookings for conference in November are proceeding well. We already have a record number of sponsors and an excellent programme. The early bird discount runs out at the end of August so don’t miss out. See the website for details. Remember also to book your hotel separately, quoting the code on the website.

Finally, I wish you all a very restful and enjoyable recess. Democracy Direct is also taking a well earned rest for August and we will be back with you on 5 September.

All the best.
John
