Conference over for another year

It feels a bit like ‘the morning after the night before’ but thankfully minus the hangover. Conference is done and dusted for another year and we have a brief respite before we start planning for 2018. My thanks to everybody who helped plan and organise the two days. We will await the evaluations which we hope to send out on Wednesday but feedback so far has been very positive.

Thanks again to our sponsors particularly Modern.Gov for sponsoring the drinks reception and Public i for the excellent disco after dinner. A great night was had by all – even if the dancing left something to be desired – mine mainly!

A particular highlight of the evening was celebrating the success of our learners and presenting those in attendance with their certificates. Congratulations to our ‘Learner of the Year’ Matt Kane and a special mention to Emma Clarke who received a commendation. Commiserations to Pippa Turvey and Jason Habbershon who were the other nominees. The standard was very high and both received excellent feedback from their advisers.

Our guest of honour at the dinner was the Lord Mayor of Nottingham and we were delighted to raise £632 for his charity through the combination of a raffle and a donation from ADSO.

It was also great to present the very first Special ADSO Award to the Kirklees Democracy Commission for their outstanding work in promoting local democracy.

Finally a big thank you to all who attended conference and contributed so much.

Best wishes

John
